Mrs. Hartley was born Nov. 30, 1919, the daughter of Reuben D. and Lonie Jenkins Fogle.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Warren County where she taught Sunday School. She was a graduate of Stephens City High School.

She married the Rev. Thornton Jacob "Bunch" Hartley on Nov. 29, 1942 in Frederick County. The Rev. Hartley preceded her in death on August 29, 1999.

She was the last member of her immediate family. She is survived by three sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services were held June 12, 2008 with the Rev. Jay Ahlemann, the Rev. Clifton Hartley, and the Rev. Allen Roby officiating. Burial took place at Green Hill Cemetery in Stephens City
