Boyce council seeks new officer
Boyce town council members are seeking a code enforcement officer who could also issue tickets to offenders.
Eldon Nesselrodt, the former Berryville Chief of Police, would have the ability to issue citations to residents violating town code, after the Sheriff deputized him.
The town is waiting to hear if Nesselrodt is interested in the position, said council member Billie Hott.
Former code enforcement officer Nancy Olin’s resignation was effective Tuesday. She will continue as the town’s erosion and sediment control officer, Hott said.
An August litter clean-up, out-door storage and the burning ordinance are some of the town’s law in need of enforcement, said council member Erika Kelble.
In other business, the Planning Commission and Boyce Fire Chief Sammy Buckley discussed the possibility of installing a town reader board on fire department property located on Main Street and Route 340. The “welcome sign” has not been designed, but could be electronic or solar power generated, Kelble said.
She said implementation of the sign would take into consideration environmentally friendly options, the fire company’s current reader board and future plans for a traffic light and turn lanes at the intersection.
Additionally, Debra Albritton was reappointed to the Board of Zoning Appeals.
